Malachite’s name is derived from the Greek word “maloche” meaning “mallow” as it has the colour of mallow leaves.  It was crushed in the Bronze Age to be used as a green pigment.  Greeks and Romans wore it as amulates to ward off eveil spirits and illness. Lapis is believed to open the “third eye”.  It is a protective stone.  Malachite is a powerful healing stone, believed to absorb negative energy.
