Obsidian - Golden
Legend - Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass formed as an extrusive igneous rock. It is named from “Obsidianus” from its resemblance to a stone found in Ethopia by one Obsius. Obsidian was highly valued in Stone Age cultures because, like flint, it could be fractured to produce sharp blades or arrowheads. It was also used on Tapa Nui (Easter Island) for edged tools (Mataia) and the pupils of the eyes of their statues (Moai).
Properties - Believed to be a strongly protective stone. Golden Obsidian is particularly effective for scrying, and balancing energy fields.
Description - The inclusion of gas bubbles remaining from the lava flow, gives a rich chatoyancy to these Golden Obsidian beads. Layers of golden brown, white and gray, combine to form a deep olive green to chocolate brown appearance. Sold as temporary strung 40cm (approx) strands.
