Jade (Blue) Dyed
Legend - The name Jade is derived from the Spanish phrase "piedra de ijada" meaning "stone of the side" referring to the belief that jade could cure kidney ailments and hip problems. It was brought to Europe by the Portuguese who obtained it from their trading bases in China. Jade is fairly porous and can accept a variety of dyes. It is heat treated to remove water and expand pore spaces which gives a nice uniform colour.
